Plans Afoot To Provide Best Healthcare To All In AP

Amaravati (IAIJ): Assuring that the poor in the State would get the best of the healthcare, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that every family in the State with an income less than Rs. 5 lakh an annum would be given an Aarogyasri health card. These cards would be given away to eligible families from December 21.


The Chief Minister held a detailed review on issues pertaining to medical and health services in the State with senior officials and Ministers here on Aug 13. In the due course of time, the number of services and treatments covered under Aarogya Sri would be enhanced to ensure that for every treatment costing more than Rs. 1,000 for patient would be brought under the scheme. The number of hospitals coming under the ambit of the scheme would be increased as well extending the same to as many as 150 hospitals in neighbouring cities of Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai.


To further improve and bring more services under Aarogya Sri and to see how they manifest on the ground, the Chief Minister ordered a pilot project in West Godavari starting from January 1, 2020 upto three months. The Health department would roll out these new services, treatments and other benefits to patients in the district before it is extended to other districts.


The Chief Minister has ordered the officials concerned to obtain 1000 additional vehicles for the sake of 108 and 104 services. He specifically directed the officials to make efforts to ensure that the vehicles were always in the best of the condition to provide succour to patients in need of emergency services. Towards this effect, every 104 and 108 service vehicles would be replaced with a newer vehicle for every six years.


Outlining various plans for each segment of the healthcare including diagnostic services, emergency treatment centres, ambulances, the Chief Minister categorically instructed officials to transform the State healthcare system into the best model in the country by June 2022. In line with this, five new cancer hospitals and two hospitals for treating kidney ailments would be set up in the State. The cancer hospitals would come up in Kadapa, Vishakapatnam, Guntur, Kurnool and Tirupati. The kidney research centres and speciality hospitals would be constructed in Srikakulam and Prakasam. The foundation stones for these new hospitals would be laid during September and October.


YSR Kanti Velugu From October 10


The Chief Minister announced that YSR Kanti Velugu would be rolled out from October 10 onwards to treat eye-related ailments among the poor in the State. Depending upon the requirement, patients would be provided with medication or spectacles or any surgery.
