Ellen Rules The Waves
By Sue E, Journalist
Ellen MacArthur, the fastest person to sail around the world single-handed, sailed her world beating triamuran, B & Q, into Greenwich today. To the tumultuous welcome of the crowds, she sailed from Tower Bridge this morning to dock at Greenwich at mid-day near the Cutty Sark, the heart of British Maritime history. The plucky yachtswoman started her journey around the world late November 2004 and crossed the finishing line on the 7 th Feb 2005 landing in Falmouth on the 8th. She was immediately honoured for her triumph by being made a Dame by the Queen.
She was welcomed by the crowds at Geenwich and spent 20 minutes recounting her gruelling trip around the world.
